Charity Ball

Thank you to all who donated and attended ROMC's Charity Ball. We raised over $160 and over 400 menstruation products, supplying women in need basic items.
Dressember Penny Drive

Thank you to all who donated for our Penny Drive. In one week we raised over $55 dollars for the Dressember Foundation, which provides awareness and support for the victims of human trafficking. Keep giving ROMC! Our Sock Drive will end December 15th.

Sock Drive

Happy Holidays ROMC! This is just the final update. We donated (drumroll please!) 100 socks for the elderly at LifeCare Center. Enjoy the holidays with your families and come back refreshed for more serving our community!
SC Walk for Life

$1,384 was raised this year for the annual South Carolina Walk for Life on October 14th. Team VIP was represented well with ten of our sixteen members present. We hope to see everyone there again next year as we increase our impact in Columbia.
ROMC Fall Festival

Team VIP is starting this 2017-2018 school year with a festival! It will be tomorrow at Green Lawn Baptist Church. Admission is free and game proceeds will go towards the National Alliance of Mental Illnesses as we work to get our community aware of the importance of mental health! 
 
Update: Thanks to all of our donators we were able to raise $200 and heard two speakers from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and for the National Alliance on Mental Illnesses. Thank you for all your support!
Midlands SIA Spring Conference

What a way to end the school year! ROMC Team VIP competed in the Spring Celebration Oral Competition and won the Gold Award for their acts of philanthropic service during the 2017 school year. Let's continue our hard work next year to serve the community around us.

Strides for Autism

Team VIP and ROMC National Honor Society teamed up again to raise funds for Autism Society and raising awareness for this disorder. In all, $360 dollars were raised and 20% of the student body attended.
Belk Charity Sale

In honor of Dr. Seuss' 113th birthday, Team V.I.P. as well as members of Richland One Middle College attended Forest Heights Elementary School to read to the students from kindergarten to fifth grade.

After splitting up into groups, the seniors of Richland One Middle College got to work on February 28th to improve the local community center. While some found themselves outside picking up trash and working on flower beds, others were inside cleaning every nook and cranny.
PACE Zoo Trip

Last Friday, Team V.I.P. and ROMC students enjoyed a wonderful noon zoo trip with the senior citizens at the PACE program in Columbia and surrounding areas. The students and the seniors traversed Riverbanks Zoo, whilst interacting and sharing stories.
Caughman Road Education Initiative

Today, select members of ROMC SIA volunteered to begin a new program for Caughman Road Elementary School for the students who are in need of specialized tutoring. The SIA-sponsored program will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at designated times.
Taste of ROMC

Last night, Richland One Middle College enjoyed a food competition together. Faculty and students alike created original dishes to win the ultimate prize for each category, with the winners being Ashley Taylor (appetizer), Erick Nick (entree), and Delexus Osbourne (dessert).
Harvest Hope Food Drive

ROMC has had a successful collection of non-perishable food items at almost 300 pounds of food. Team VIP and ROMC National Honor Society collaborated together in planning the event and reaching out to our fellow peers
PACE State Fair Trip

On October 28th, ROMC and members of Team VIP enjoyed an outing with the senior citizens in visiting South Carolina's State Fair. Eating food, hearing stories, and visiting the various exhibits made this year a success!
Palmetto Walk for Life

October 22nd was a beatiful day to take a walk, which members of Team VIP and the students at ROMC can attest to. The Palmetto Walk for Life was to raise money for breast cancer research for the Palmetto Health Foundation. $1,620 were earned in total, and over forty percent of the school was in attendance.
ROMC Sucess Day

In support of Team VIP's focus this year on bridging the gap between law enforcement and community, all the students at ROMC attended a specialized event filled with noteworthy guests. This included Senator Joel Lourie, Judge Tomothy Edmond, Richland County Investigator Montgomery, Officer Carson and Chief Chambliss from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. ROMC students were free to ask questions in regards to law enforcement or legislative, and all left with a better understanding of how the law works.

To begin this year of service, several members of SIA were invited to assist and participate in a summit focused on reducing the drop-out rates of high school students, especially those that are "wounded". Students registered guests, passed out pamphlets, and participated in a panel on the benefits of attending a charter school.
